AIRPORT
Blackhawk Flying Club is based at
Chicago/Rockford International Airport (RFD). The club rents two
hangers on the northeast corner of the airport, B2 and B3. Due to
airport
security
procedures, members must have a gate key to enter the security gate. Monthly
business meetings are held in the auditorium, located on west side of
the airport.
Rockford Airport is a Class D airport with Stage III Service (TRSA), in which ATC provides radar
vectoring and separation on a full time basis for all IFR aircraft
and participating VFR aircraft.
Flight Safety Seminars are held in Rockford twice each year. All members are encouraged to attend.
Club aircraft are refueled after each flight by
Emery at the hanger, or
North American at their building.
A VOR checkpoint is located on the
airport.
